    Food Plot

What's everybody using for food plots in the east Texas area these days?

Wheat and oats in one plot (1 acre). Winter peas in another. Also 1 acre.

Clover with a little chicory mixed in. Broadcasted and fertilized. Finally got a brief shower yesterday morning so I'm hoping it will start coming up pretty quickly.

I put a bag of 13-13-13 on each of the plots. I fertilized after spreading the seed and before disking it all back in.

Sometimes I'll add Crimson clover and/or winter peas

Wheat, oats, chicory and clover on 2 acres Saturday a week ago. Good rain on Sunday. It was 2 - 3 inches tall this weekend. Will fertilize before a rain hopefully this weekend.

Just wondering, but trying to figure out if I want to fertilize when I plant or after. What is best?

Any suggestions for sandy loam soil in Leon County (looks really sandy). Grass burrs grow great!

That's exactly what and where I'm planting this. Biggest problem right now is lack of rain.

Same one I planted along with some of the Texas twist variety and WTI Clover mixed in as well. We planted 2 weeks ago and had a good rain the same day we put it in the ground. I planted 3 diff areas and added 100# 13-13-13 to each spot.
