I feel like there's more deer in E Tx lately...

I feel like there's more deer in NE Tx as of late. Every time I'm out there, I'm seeing deer. My place is only 55 acres, but it's part of a 95 acre plot, surrounded by much bigger plots. The deer just seem to be every everywhere this year. I'm not used to seeing them as much as I have been. I'm seeing them several times a day in different places.

What's unusual, is that they are out and about during the day. Taking a few days off for opening of bow season, looks like I'm gonna do longer sits than normal.

Copperhead, who is a great TBHer, was at my place the other day, first thing he noticed was all the acorns dropping. Not sure they've ever dropped this early in the 4 years that I've owned the place.

Noticed the exact same thing here in SE Texas too. Should be a good year for us.

Glad ya'll are seeing deer. Last season our neighbors slaughtered everything that moved and as a result we have seen very little activity since. On a different note. I have noticed the same thing about the acorns, and pecans. We have a few pecan trees on one side of the property, and they have shed quite a bit already as well. If there are any of the older generation out there that knows the weather signs, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts. I also noticed a lot less persimmons this season as compared to the last 2?

I've got a nice very young 8 point coming out in the back yard every evening, should be a stud in a few years. Highly doubt he makes it that long with the outlaws around here though. Him and a few others are coming every day. Never had this many deer on this little 5 acres.

Good to hear. Hoping this will be the year. I've owned my place for 4 years...and never killed a deer. Last year I was unemployed during hunting season. Instead of hunting, I cut 16 cords of firewood by hand to make ends meet. This year will be different, actually gonna take vacation days to hunt a few extra days after opening day. What a difference a year makes.

I usually see deer in one of 3 or 4 places all miles apart as I drive home each day. Here lately, it seems like I see them in ALL of the places, so to me it seems like there are more deer this year.

I believe antler restrictions have something to do with this. If the baby deer don't get shot, they grow older and smarter, and survive even longer. Just my opinion. I'm not only seeing more deer, but more bucks.

I read somewhere that it had to do with 2 major factors. Antler restrictions and the last 2 deer seasons have been so wet that the hunting pressure was way down due to folks not being able to get to their hunting spots. Just what I read.
