Day off = food plot. Feeder question?

Finally able to work a day off (technically not off) so I made a run to where I grew up to finish getting my food plot in. Disc about 10 days ago, gonna hit it agin with the disc, the the tiller, then broadcast seed and drag. We shall see what comes of it! Feeder was filled a couple weeks ago but it seems that the pellets are clogging the funnel. I don't have time to check it all the time. Any suggestions on how to prevent this? Maybe cut the funnel to create an bigger opening and move spinner plate closer???

Pellets as in protein? If so then yes, open it up but it may still get clogged

Are you using protein pellets in a spin type feeder? I've never had good luck using protein pellets in a spin feeder. I have used a 70/30 corn/protein mix in spin type feeders with great luck.

Yeah I mix protein with corn in my feeder. Didn't have problems clogging until I had to change the timer a few years ago.

Avoid protein in spin feeder, just a matter of time until clogged. Try soybean and corn mix, will work much better.

Well, I'll have to keep that in mind in 3 months when this one runs out!

You can spin Record Rack Golden Nuggets. Its designed for this purpose. But deer love corn and the amount of protein your throwing via a spin feeder is really not doing much as far as growing horns or body weight.

Our deer will pound a protein feeder daily in the hot summer to the tune of 1000 lbs a month out of just one Boss Buck feeder and I have two others running.

                  Good luck

Well the disc work is done. Just got the tiller hooked to the pto. Time to smooth it all out and hopefully get the rest of a few tough patches of Bahia grass.

Yes do not feed protein from a spin feeder.

Was th plan to till it after disking?

                          Disc is more than enough.

Yeah, plan was to till after disc. Thankfully it broke bc it's hot, I'm worn out, and I'm happy to have seed in the ground! Feeder seems to be functioning fine so far.
