Out working feeders today and as I walked by the feed pen noticed this dark mass up in a mesquite tree. Paper wasp nest about 2/3rds the size of a soccer ball, but high enough that they weren't a bother.

Was working at one of the other feed pens, crossing into the pen and got a foot tangled between and twisted up in two strands. Ended up doing a full face-plant before I even realized I was tangled up. No injury, so guess my 70-y.o. bones are still strong. Was changing out the mechanism and before I got through I figured out it was a bad battery and not a bad mechanism.
Oh well, needed to build a larger coon cage anyway, and got that done.
