Wood Defender, Penofin are just 2. In my opinion Thompson's is a waste of money, but if you have it on hand use it but it will probably not last long. Never did anytime i tried to use it.
Not just a casual user. I built decks and arbors for about 10 years and learned the hard way what did and did not work.
Another vote against Thompson's. I have started using (one year ago this past July) Ready Seal on my deck and boat dock. I have been very pleased thus far. It has held up great. I plan to spray another coat this month just for grins even though it shows no wear yet.
I would use the exterior " oops " returned paint from lowes, then the sealer.
Or maybe the sealer on the interior of the blind.
This is what I do, especially since I generally don't care what color it is. I usually just pick an earth tone since they seem to be the most commonly returned colors. Nothing like paying $5 for a gallon of quality paint.
Thompson's....ain't much more, than Turpintine and Lindseed oil......
And no UV protection at all......
This is Texas...
There's better stuff out there....
IMHO
I have 4 - 6x6 box bow blinds me and my hunting bud hunt from on our lease..... and I have built a handful of others for other folks. I am a big fan of exterior paint over stain and I prefer semi-gloss if I can find it on the Ooops aisle at Home Depot or Lowes. They were all built from 2007, 2008-2010 and are all going strong. We keep them off the ground with blocks, repaint every couple of years and they just keep on chuggin'. No signs of rotting, wearing or anything. Two guys with rollers can knock the outside out in 20 minutes including the "trees". Every time I am in Lowes or HD I walk by the Ooops aisle to see if they have a favorable exterior color for future blind painting. I have lucked out with several 5 gallon tan and olives through the years.
