Ensure that the buffer tube is engaged up to and slightly over the body of the retaining pin (with the retaining pin nipple exposed) and keeping the pin installed. You can tell this by pushing back on the buffer slightly and ensuring the retaining pin stays in place. If it is not then everytime the BCG cycles the pin will extend past the buffer and not allow the cycle to finish.

I have not done anything to it, not to the buffertube or anything. just been shooting it and then it started this. so do y'all still think that could be the problem?

I'm not an AR expert but when mine acted the same is was loose / misaligned gas block.

Check the gas block and the gas key on the bolt.

Lube or gas. Most likely gas.

Pulled the gas block off, dimpled the set-screw locations on the barrel (keeps the block from slipping out of place) and now works like a charm.
did the same thing to make sure my block didn't move...also blue loctite the screw when I put it in place

blue loctite is the best for those pesky screws on ARs!!!!
