Seems I have read some negatives about the 6.4. I am forced to be car shopping right now and found a 2009 6.4 in my price range. Mostly a daily driver some hauling but not a lot.

If your able to test drive it and take it to your mechanic to check it out. They are good engines, but they usually need some work. It's hard to find a used 6.4 truck that does not have a leaking radiator. You will see coolant stains on the frame right under the end cap. If it has low miles it probably can be saved by a full delete.

Most radiator failures were in the 2008 job 1 production. The 2009 uses different style rubber mounts and a different radiator from the factory. If you can get ahold of a friends programmer, take it with you to test drive the truck. Don't load any tunes but use it to monitor the coolant and oil temps when hot. You should be within a few degrees of each other. The better ones will also show teams slip, injector timing and about 1k other things if you want to know.
Check the underside of the hood for stains above the degas bottle, if the are there it can be a sign of a truck that's been run hard...or a bad cap, so check that too.
I had a 6.4 that was deleted and was a great truck, as have many friends of mine. One thing I looked for when buying mine used was a gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch. I wouldn't buy a truck that already has one just because you never know what/how they pulled.

I've got an 08' I bought new. Wouldn't take for it. Best vehicle I've ever owned. ONLY issue its ever had was 2 injectors acted goofy for about 15 sec and threw a code. Truck was over a year out of warranty and ford still covered them. At that time some parts may or may not have been removed. Had I known what I know now I would have done it the day I bought it and told them keep the warranty.
Might blow up tomorrow... But so far been a beast of a truck and if it did, I couldn't talk bad about it for what I ask it to pull
