Help Me Choose My Next Truck

Need help from the TBH brain trust. Due to a recent promotion/relocation I will be buying a new truck in the next few weeks. I am now commuting a significant distance as well as driving all day long so annual mileage is over 30k. My 5.7 Tundra just isn't going to work for me due to appearance (lift, wheels/tires, and some minor wear) as I need to have a more "executive" look now. Additionally, 12mpg sucks.

I will be doing everything short of sleeping in this vehicle, it's my primary office. I need something fuel efficient (and if you tell me that I shouldn't worry about efficiency because it's a truck I will let you pay my fuel bill), reasonably priced but with a nice quality interior/exterior, and not an absolute turtle given the fact that I'm used to the response of my 5.7. I have considered the Titan XD but recent motor reviews and relatively weak fuel efficiency has me turned off. Other options I'm considering are Ecoboost and Dodge Ecodiesel. I like the idea of being able to tow a decent load without dropping to 9mpg but I know I can't have it all. I've never been so unsure of what to buy as I am with this replacement. Any input is appreciated and if you know of a good deal in the Houston area let me know!

My wife has a 2016 F-150 with the 2.7 Eco-boost and it is a great truck. Smooth ride and gets 18-21 MPG with great of the line pick up. My .02

Chevy 5.3 is an option. The 3.5 eco in the F150 will have more guts than your Toyota if yours is stock. 18mpg if you don't lead foot it all the time. Ecodiesel will give the mileage but not get up and go as much.

My 2016 Chevy 4 door, 4x4 with the 5.3 engine gets 18-19mpg. That is about half highway and half in town

Funny. Duallys do not meet our vehicle requirements at work. Too wide to be in a new community all the time.

depending on how much you tow...have your thought about the tacoma? They are pricey but reliable

They won't be the best in towing but the interior sure seems nice and comfy.

The 3.5 ECO Boost will give you plenty of get up and go and good mpg. If you tow with it though expect 11-12mpg. 5.0 in the F150 will get pretty good mpg close to the ECO and that would be my choice.

1/2 ton Chevy/GMC crew cab with the 6.2 it will have plenty of pick up and still get decent mileage. Otherwise if fuel efficiency is your main goal then get an Eco diesel. Just know it's not going to have near the balls your Tundra or the Chevy will have.

I don't think I'm allowed to have a Tacoma unfortunately.

I know I don't need an F250 but does anyone know how low they are being red tagged in preparation for the '17s?

The fuel mileage on a Tacoma is really no better than most 1/2 tons anyway (except maybe the Tundra).

I just made a deal to get a 2016 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab. $50K sticker for $40K. 5.3L gas engine just like my '14. I've gotten as much as 26 mpg in the '14. I average about 19-20 mpg on the highway (I may drive 5 mph over the limit most of the time, but that's just a rumor). I averaged about 2 mpg better before I took off the front bumper air dam, but I got tired of dragging it over rocks at the lease all the time.

I just bought an F150 3.5 Eco and love it so far. I think you should give the 2.7 Eco a look since you're traveling so much.
