How do you get rid of Chiggers?!!?

This ought to be interesting. I recently got back from a public land hunt and I'm now ate up with chiggers. I thought it would be interesting to hear your home remidies for getting rid of the little critters.

Scalding hot bath with lots of epsom salts. It dries out the sores and kills the itching.

"chigger-rid" , bath with bleach in it, clear finger nail polish (any color will work, just a matter of if you want little pink or orange dots on you or not)

....to not get bit is stay inside.

I hate chiggers!!! Worse than skeeters.....

Lots a scratching is the only way I know to get rid of them once you have been bit.....prevention is the best, spray down with "off" or any other product that has deet in it or a tick spray on your clothes before you go out....once you been bit forget all the home remedies....you're in for a few days of scratching...

Pour a thimble full of whiskey on them.

                    Wait 30 minutes.

Then, pour a thimble full of sand on them.

They will get drunk, start a rock fight, and kill each other off!

Wipe down with bleach and/or Pine Sol.

Take a bath in germtrol, seabreeze, or put some rubbing alcohol in your bath water. There is also an oat base product that helps too. Most of this will help prevent any more bites if you take a bath as soon as you get in out of the field.

I've always taken a hot bath with a bottle of rubbing alcohol in it. Seems to have worked every time.

There is an old wise tell that really fresh urine will stop them from itching, but I'm not willing to find out. Maybe YOU could find out, and report back to us on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I did alot of reading on "chiggers".

Household chems DO NOT WORK! And are not good for you! I've had my buddies tell me, "heck put _______ on there and they're gone in 4-5 days........duh!! The infection is gone anyway. The chigger does not stay "on" the body. A chigger, once he is on you, injects his feeding tube into your skin and then leaves the host. The bacteria from the feeding tube causes the infection consequently causing the irritation. Antibiotic ointment is about the only "real" thing that helps. Other than that time is your friend.
If you want to know more info google "chiggers". Lots of old wives tails out there. My mom would make us sit in a pine o pine bath. Man I stunk!!
