    question for the Kayakers

I have two wilderness kayaks and it's time to get my son a bigger one and my wife a new one. I'm looking at getting the pelican Boost 100, just wanting to know if anyone has one or used one and how they handle in the water. I would go with the wilderness tarpon 120 but money is a factor on this buy because i need two.

Pelicans are crap kayaks. If you buy one you will only wish you didn't later.

Disagree they're OK for kids and stuff and for getting started lots of people use them for years....they are more likely to leak, flex thinner plastic so baby them a little more and they're not as fast or track as well but...they dont sink so if the goal is to kayak a pond or call creek they are fine. I've used the green sit on top academy sales. You won't regret it .its like buying your first car it's gonna be nice just to have one..later on buy a better one like a vette and it's hard to climb back into a base model Kia but it will work. If your wife already has a wilderness I wouldn't switch to pelican but for the kid needing a bigger one I think they're fine.
What wilderness kayaks do you have?

i have two tarpon 130's. my sons in a small SunStream that we are handing down to my 5 yo daughter. I like my 130 but it's a bit much for the wife, the main thing i'm worried about is water drag, I don't care about my boy he's 14 and doesn't care about paddling hard but my wife does.

People don't like the two piece construction seem to split at the seams at the waterline and hatches leak if your looking at budget yaks a 12 ft pescador from academy is the best bang for your buck it's based on the old wilderness systems tarpon 120 iv taken one 3 miles off shore they really are great kayak great for every type of fishing or if you want a 14 ft kayak for better tracking they have a 14 ft pesky or the ocean kayak triton 13 is good too the ascends from bass pro are good wide boats but are kind of a toad to paddle and the hatches usually leak

Great info. Thanks. I use my 130 for ocean, family doesn't go there. Lol. What I'm looking for is for river runs. I'll check into the pescadores
