So a guy was "gently riding his Ninja" down our street and dumped the clutch, lost control, and slid about 100yds. So how fast do you have to go to slide a bike 100yds. Is it the 35mph he claims, nawwww. Gotta be maybe 45-60. Any experts?
Suffice to say FAST. But it realy would depend on other factors. Ive seen vehicles travel farther than I thought they should but I was terrible in math and one reason I never went to accident reconstruction school.
If it was laid over the entire distance he had to be going extreamly fast
But it wiulf not be out of the question for the bike to pop back up and roll on its tires as well before falling back over
A couple neighbors came out and chewed his *** for speeding but then ol' pawpaw across the street came out to do the Samaritan thing. I initially got the kid's plate to report him, but his bike is so trashed he won't be riding again any time soon.
I'm just glad he didn't hit anybody. I have little kids, and well, just good he didn't hit anybody.
actually it can vary a lot,, weight of the bike plays into it along with the actual road surface itself,, a softer surface the bike can dig into will stop it faster, hard smooth surface like concrete they can slide a long way, if it had sand or dirat on it factors in,also if they tumbled or just slid,, way many years ago i specialized in investigating fatality wrecks when i was an leo,, but i have long sense forgotten the formulas,, but i would estimate the speed at about 50, and i could be off a good ways, ive been retired 5 years and its been 23 since i worked a fatality
I seen a dozen or so young fellas who liked to ride their croch rockets real fast laying dead in the street.......maybe he learned a lesson on this one
Based upon known data in my area I come up with approximately 52mph. That is assuming 300 feet of solid slide. Believe it or not, weight is not a factor in stopping distance, only braking efficiency.
I had him at 48.2 but I could not really tell how old the asphalt was. I also need to know what direction he was traveling and time so I can factor in Gravity pull to the closest moon.
I slid a couple in my younger crazier days and I assure you to go the length of a football field he was booking along pretty good considering the speed limit.
Not to defend a squid, but... With the rise of all the trick riding, many sports bikes have 'sliders' on them that take the damage of a fall to keep the bike from contacting the ground. Makes for very little surface area and low resistance in a dump.
Can't see his bike in the picture; and I doubt he was driving the speed limit. However, without a little data, I don't think a judgement can be made on speed.

Poor guy is going to be really hating life in about a week when things start to crack " ask me how I know"
No idea how fast but like said b4 if bike has sliders it can/ will go along ways
