    Feral Hogs?

    Hello.
    This is my first thread.
OK, If feral hogs are a big problem in Texas and need to be eradicated?
Why don't farmers and ranchers let guys like us resolve their problem?
Whom among us would not love to go to Rancher Randy's or Farmer Frank's place and get rid of his feral hogs? I would do it for nothing if they threw in a BBQ sandwich and did not hassle me.
Just sumpin' for ya'll to chew on?
God bless America plus you and yours!

centex aggie had a very good reason why it would not work. It's too bad people can not be trusted to respect other peoples property. People can mess up stuff more than a bunch of feral hogs that's just plain pitiful but true. Thank you centex aggie.

    1) Liability
    2) People do not take care of your property like you would expect them to.

I wouldn't let anyone on my property if I owned a ranch. I wouldn't complain about my hog problem either. I would just deal with it.

All excellent reasons! Money, liability, stupid and un-respectful people.

              winner winner chicken dinner

OP , would you allow Billy Bob and his drunk cousins to shoot centerfire rifles on your private land ?

you give permission to 1 person and he will invite 19 of his buddies

Hunting alone will never resolve the feral hog problem. As for getting a land owner to throw in a BBQ sandwich for your hard work, I would say that's a pipe dream lol

This has been cussed and discussed to death here. I guess if you don't own land ( with all that it entails ), you're just not gonna get it.

I own land (not a whole lot) and don't let anybody come out on their own and hunt it. The farmers I know that have a "hog problem" hire a helicopter to come out and kill them. Strangers on your property hunting are probably worse than pigs.

Unless your good friends or family it's not gonna happen. If you fish public areas look around at the trash left within a couple feet of trash cans... String , beer cans, cigarette butts. if each person packed out what they brought in...there would be no trash .

Because when you let someone come out to kill hogs
                        1. They leav gates open and let your farm critters out
                        2. They leave trash
                        3. They invite their buddy, who invites his buddy, who invites his buddy,...........
                        4. They have permission to kill pigs, but they decide you not mind them shooting a big ol buck that walks out
                        5. They can't tell difference in a registered angus calf and a black hog
                        6. Drive in places they shouldn't and leave ruts, or damage crops

And the list can go on and on

One thing to keep in mind is that large farmers don't necessarily own all of the land they farm. A bunch of the land is leased, and they may only hold farming rights.

Most land owners I know also have a group of people they know and trust who are allowed to hunt their land. Too my unknowns when you let strangers on. I totally get that.
