How far away is your wireless router?

And how many devices are connected to it at any givin time?

No we have a "radio" on the roof that receives the line of sight signal from atop a grain tower in town.

It's more than likely the signal from your modem/router to the TV. If you are running 5G then it's more sensitive too location of TV. Try running on 2.4 GHz instead of 5 GHz.

Just curious...why is the 5G more sensitive?

reboot everything, first modem, then router, which could be your modem, then your TV.
Check your password, which probably located on the modem. Make sure to enter it with respect to upper and lowercase syntax.

              Good luck

ISP guys came out and replaced the router. Not because it was the issue but it was outdated.

Called Vizio and went thru a ton of troubleshooting steps.... WiFi module is possibly going out....

Called Square Trade about the extended warranty we purchased thru Amazon on the tv. A new wifi board and power board are being sent to my house. Repair tech will be out next week to repair the tv.

That was a good $78 investment!!!

It has to do with the way different frequencies are affected differently by obstructions. 5Ghz is better able to carry larger amounts of data, but is more susceptible to solid objects(like walls) interfering with signal. 2.4Ghz goes through things better.

i have my smart TV hardwired, just because it is usually a little faster than wifi. The extra speed helps when streaming videos. also the TV is really close to the router already, so the cable isn't that long. one less thing to worry about not working.

I had the same problem with my Vizio tv. If you can run the phone and iPad and are able to watch YouTube and Netflix , etc ... Without any problems then it's the tv.

I never had problems using iPad/iPhone when connected to wifi but always had trouble on Vizio.
They replaced some board inside (had warranty) and I continued with same issue...

Eventually got money back for the tv because they couldn't fix the problem..

                        Access point

I went with a couple of these in my house since I have dead spots. These work great and don't weaken I'm a year or so. Before I was replacing a wireless router once a year. I have them in the attic, but you can put them anywhere and pretty easy to configure.

Understood. Thanks for the clarification. Looking at the WAP posted above. Are there any other ones that would be worth a look?

Luxul makes good ones. I've set up several wireless networks using their equipment and they work great. If you've got a big house that's spread out, the controller kit comes with two access points, that connect to a central controller, so the switching between the two is seamless.

Ubiquiti is good too. We use their stuff for our wireless towers.
