    Pediatric Echocardiogram cost?

Has anybody had any experience with a pediatric echocardiogram that knows how much the facility charged them for the exam? My youngest son has been scheduled for one on Sep 15th and the Hospital that is providing the exam is saying it is going to cost $3,100 - All of the research I have done over the last two days has shown prices from $750-$1,500 (which is more in line with what I expected the echo to cost). By all means if $3,100 is the going rate then I am going to pay it, but if I can get this done across the street for 1/3rd of the price then I am going to do it. Any first hand factual insight from anybody here on TBH?

the cost of the echo was $1,000 or YOUR cost after insurance paid was $1,000? If that was your cost then that would put the exam at around $3,333

Our son had one done in the Woodlands this summer. I don't know what the total cost was but our out of pocket was just under $800.

Is it a Trans Thoracic or Trans esophageal? Big difference in price.

No clue - it is a 2d pediatric Echocardiogram ( according to some the word pediatric is what makes it so much more than a normal echocardiogram). My Dr here in Graham says that there is only 1 other hospital in DFW that can do a "pediatric" echo besides the one we are scheduled with.

My other best guess, is to call and ask if you pay up front what would the price be...even if you have no intention of doing that. It may give you a better idea.

I don't agree with how things are priced. When we had our baby the hospital drummed up almost $35k in bills for an uncomplicated natural birth. Insurance settled for $2800.

I hope the little one is just fine though.
