    Copper Kitchen Sink

Trying to pick out a new farmhouse style sink for our new build. I want travertine, she wants copper. What's the upkeep on keeping a copper sink from scratching, turning green (tarnishing) & is it easy to keep clean? Sounds like a lot of work, compared to stone, to me.

talk her into a stainless. My wife bought one(farm style) for our new place and it looks great and no up keep as far as I can tell.
As for your question, I would not think it would turn green having constant use but I really don't know that much about copper

She'd do SS too but I don't think it'd look right w/the antiqued white cabinets, antiqued black island & stained concrete floor.

I have no issues with the copper. Every now and then just scrub it with your dish sponge and it will clean right up.

Stainless will look fine too. All my appliances are stainless but with the same antique white cabinets etc...

I ruined a nice set of kitchen knives by leaving them in my copper sink over night (several times).. Galvanic corrosion. Other than that, I love my sink

I sure was hoping y'all were going to tell me how awful it is to deal with & how there's no way we should go copper. Y'all failed me.

A few years ago, we went with some kinda stone? Looks like stone, it's brown. Comes in many colors. Look into fake stone and get a color you like. Ours haz held up really well.

We have copper and there's a learning curve when you first get it, but it's not too difficult to keep up. Get some beeswax spray and keep it coated will help keep the patina from getting messed up too much.

I found our sink on Lowes for about half the price as anywhere else. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Go porcelain. That will be my next one. They are cheap to refinish when they get beat up. Look very old school, and are the trend.

Does it scratch easy? That's probably my biggest concern.

I'm sure it's just me but reminds me too much of a toilet.

Kohler makes a cast iron sink that requires even less work that a stainless sink, the only downside is it weighs about 75 lbs. I build houses and have used stainless, copper, and cast iron.

                              - it's cast iron, coated with porcelain. Very solid.
