    Broadheads and shoot-through mesh

I'd love some thoughts on best broadheads for whitetail. I currently use Stryker 100gr. 3 blade broadheads and I have had no issue. The owner of our local shop said to use them. 4 pass throughs and exits are roughly 3" across. I've hit no bone other than ribs and worry that all this doe practice may not translate in to equal results with bucks.

I'd love some input on fixed blades and what people suggest and are confident in.

On another note, I had a poor shot due to my shooting through the mesh. Any advice on this? Sharp broadhead, but only two blades cut mesh and arrow flew right of target. Thankfully, I was just testing it out....on a squirrel. Mesh was not tight, but not loose. I tend to set up my Doule Bull with the corner facing where I would like to shoot. That being said, the mesh was angled at a likely 30/40 degrees. The blade that did not cut was furthest inside of the mesh...if that makes sense.

JK, I have shot several animals out of my DB T-5 blind through the mesh. I made a few shots out of it at the house out to 50yds before heading to the field first...I shoot a 2 blade mechanical, I would assume that a fixed head should fly well through the mesh just fine...I too set mine up to shoot out of the big mesh screens in the corners and it is always at an angle when I shoot through mine....I can't think of anything else to try different than to set it up at the house and try some practice shots.....Best of luck with it!!!!

Appreciate the input. I'm going to shoot through the mesh a few more times before I take a live shot. I just needed a boost of confidence. I know I'm hiding a heck of a lot better when I've got it pulled down...

Broadheads are like food. Everyone has different tastes,You are shooting a fine fixed blade. I shoot a Muzzy 100gr 4 blade That's just what I like. Keep shooting through the mesh and make sure your blade is razor sharp and you can't go wrong. Good luck, and happy hunting. PS:By the way, Does and bucks go down the same way with good shot placement. GS

I shoot the G5 Striker through the mesh in my DB all of the time. Have had no problems with arrows not flying right or lack of penatration.

Nothing better in my opinion than the strikers.

I shoot Spifire mechanical heads & they work great, I think any good head will work fine as long as the mesh is stretched fairly tight. Get a pack of the small bungee cords from Home Depot to help stretch the window or make a seperate grid out of round rod & stretch mesh on it, this way you have a replaceable window & no holes in the ones in your blind. Also make sure you time your fletchings with your blades.

Without a doubt. Lots of pork and venison in the freezer thanks to the Striker. Hits like a tone of bricks, I have yet to not pass through anything I've shot at. Biggest animal is a 250# boar. blasted through both rib cages at 30 yrds with 64lb dxt.

I havent had a pass through in every animal i have shot bc i was shooting the MAGs in Africa and shot some thick animals. However all of my animals ran less than 40 yards. Including a big kudu and waterbuck bull.

Glad to hear that the Strikers are well thought of...I have liked them and am happy to stick with them.

                      I do have a question -

"Also make sure you time your fletchings with your blades."

Can you expound on this? I am guessing that means to line up your fletchings with your blades, but just want to be sure.....

Creating your own disposable shoot through "patches" is a great idea. I will most definitely be working on that this weekend.
