    Dodge guys

My work truck is a 2012 RAM 3500 ST Cummins Crew Cab Dually. Has custom Bumpers and Wheels. I am in the market for a truck and boss offered me this one for $35k. Truck only has 21k miles and I have put the last 6k on it this year. Smooth, quiet, excellent towing power, very clean! Looks like it juat came off the lot. Truck is very well maintained and garage kept.

So my question is what kind of deal am I looking at? KBB comes up with $37k-$39k market and $40k-$42k dealer. I have no knowledge of the Dodge trucks. I've always been a Ford guy. I've heard of the rear ends being bad eating tires up, front suspensions breaking and of course the transmissions going bad.

I originally was leaning more towards a GMC 2500 HD.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Pics of the truck would be helpful, but I think you are getting a pretty solid deal.

The Cummins is exactly what you could expect and have heard it is. I looked at and drove them all 6 months ago before buying. I went with the Ram. It's a good motor. In stock form, the only real worries are exactly the same as any other manufacturer.

        - DPF filters
        - DEF systems
        - Front end components
        - EGR valves

On Ram, the transmission is vulnerable when big power is added.

On Ford, the fuel systems are vulnerable and expensive, over 11k in some instances, to repair.

Custom wheels on a dually means expensive tire rotations.
The 2012 did not have def. That's good as far as having one less thing to worry about, but the mileage isn't as good as ones that do have it.
          Is it 4wd?
Do you have a need for a dually?

I personally would not pay that much for a ST model.

You can find a Laramie or Longhorn for a little more.

I paid $47k out the door on my 2012 Laramie, and that was brand new.

For a 12 st if 4x4 $31-34k, if 2wd then $28-32k and thats pretty close to retail on them not trade value. The non DEF trucks are somewhat more desirable than the DEF trucks, unless you plan to delete and tune it then any of them are good.

Yes 4x4. I move a lot of hay at home from now through winter so big truck comes in handy. Here are pics.

I would pay that for peace of mind of what has been done to the truck. As well as maintenance, as long as you have maintained it!

Low miles and you know the history of the truck. Sounds like a fair price to me.

                        Dodge guys

For reference in Feb I fought a 2012 CCSB Fully loaded Laramie in pristine condition for $39k. 52k miles. Mine is 100% stock including the original tires.

Accessories typically only bring 35-45% of original value.

I know for a fact it hasn't been abused unlike my current truck which I found out the hard way.

No tunes on the truck and it has all the power I need!

Still has plenty warranty left! I'm thinking about it. I know it's not going anywhere so it's not a rush.
