I have an 08 GMC Z71 and bought the cheapest recommended shocks from AutoZone, don't remember the brand and they last about 60 days. The next ones I bought were Rancho's Gas made for my truck and they have lasted about 5 yrs so far.
I had Bilsteins on my 12 gmc 4x4, not Z71, had them on the top notch and really liked them. The ride was much more firm but not rough and it gave me about 2" of lift in the front so the truck sat level with a frontier full replacement.
I'm running the Rancho quick lifts on the front of my 09 Silverado 4x4 which is a leveling strut also and comes with new front springs. On the rear I have Rancho 9000XL's Couldn't be happier with the ride quality.
I went with Rancho shocks. I've installed the rear shocks. Now I need to get the fronts replaced, but I don't know if I have the right tools to pull the whole coil and shock out. Trying to find a how to video right now
