    Fox trapping ?

What kind of bait do y'all recommend to catch a nuisance fox ? I have one that needs taken out .

Foot hold trap? I always liked a bit of stuff in a dirt hole set. Used various things, sometimes commercial lures, sometimes home made baits. Having the set right was more important than the bait, IMO.

For greys, but a little further out and to the left or right. I use most any meat for greys, but reds I like a sweeter smell. For reds I add a little sweet anise to the meat., Hope that helps.

I always kill a rabbit, hang it in a tree just above your trap and spill the guts. I have caught coons, fox and bobcats doing this. Or get a live trap with a cage in the back for putting live animals and put a chicken that will make some noise in there and funnel the brush for the animal to have to go in there.

Just set a leg hold trap and bait it with bobcat urine. Set the trap about 8" in front of the bait. You can use scat, makes no difference whether it is fox or bobcat, and spray the urine on it or an old tree stump works equally as well.

I can't use a leg trap . My lacy would get in to it . I have live traps and freedom traps . Suckers are getting my chicks . I could always use a chick ....

Maybe slip out after dark and see if you can call him up.

I use tuna fish in my live traps when fox start taking chickens. Caught one a few years ago in a dog proof Z trap baited with cat food.

Use the freedom trap, set trap along side the pen or other structure the fox uses for cover along the way, pile limbs, weeds, or hay along the open side at least halfway, to the top is better, at the rear do the same but only 1/4 to 1/3 way up. Bait with about anything a cat would eat sardines, mackerel, or cheap cat food. You want the view from the trap door to like looking into a tunnel with the exit going up and out. Btw you have trouble with a pair of fox, very rare for adults to be to terribly far away from each other. Also if they are greys they are super easy to call.

Back when the cover scent of choice was red fox pee, I put some on my boots walking in to my stand and had a grey fox trail me in, barking all the way...
I killed one when he came in to a pile of pears I had put out for bait. I've been told that they are the first thing to come to a predator call.
