That one is near me and within my price range. Since I know nothing about tree stands can one of you tell me if 1) It's worth the $75 and 2) If it's any good as far as tree stands go?
Looks like a summit. If aluminum probably not a bad deal (I'm not sure summit makes them in steel and aluminum or not). That being said, I used to have a climber and prefer the hang on stands to the climbers.
That's not a Summit. Looks like a Field and Stream climber. That being said, if you're new to tree stands, a climber probably isn't your best option. You need straight trees to use one, and there's a considerable learning curve to using one safely and efficiently. Are you new to hunting in a tree period or just to tree stands? I would suggest going the route of a ladder stand for starters. Public land or private land hunting?
I started out with climbing sticks and lock-on/hang-on stands, and while i absolutely love a good hang-on setup, I've killed way more deer out of a ladder stand. I can find just as many spots to throw a ladder stand up as i can a set of climbing sticks, and I don't have to risk life and limb getting it hung. I've used just about every type of stand out there, and I own all sorts of lock-ons, hang-ons, ladders, tripods, etc. Ladder stands are by far my favorite.

100% new to hunting in a tree, private land. I figured a tree stand would be a little more discreet than a ground blind and easier to move if the need arose.
