That's what happened. The ranch owner is an awesome guy. I have never spoken to the guide in my life except on social media commenting on nice animals he guided hunters to. I think he's a pretentious ***** myself but karma will get him. The hunt never happened because guy lied about me Apparently he was hired by the ranch owner to guide for me and then he just trashed me not even knowing me. I commented on a pic of one the ranches monster deer the other day and the rancher said call him. I asked him why he backed out last minute and he told me what went down.

You're handling it right. There's nothing for you to gain by jumping in the middle of the guy who bad-mouthed you. Take the high road (like you have), and maybe you can rebuild things with the ranch owner.
