Putting a peep sight in will not increase speed. Anything that you put in the string or on the string will decrease speed but not enough to tell a difference. A peep sight is pretty much the norm in today's archery world. Just out of curiosity what are you using now?

Peep are not installed for speed, but to increase accuracy. It helps your eye and sights line up.

Make sure to got one with a large hole since they do restrict light towards dark will definitely assist with accuracy.

I use one with a 1/4" hole, it helps with the consistancy just like a rear sight on a rifle, you might lose 2-4 fps in speed, but the accuracy is well worth the trade off, imo.

I had to get a 1/4 when I got my Spot Hogg.

I have the 1/4" G5 Metapeep on mine. My prob is that every 3rd or 4th shot, the peep rolls on me to where I'm either looking at an oblong or can't even see my pins.
I like the consistency of the peep, but I just know that I'll forget to adjust the string before the shot and wont be able to make a shot. I've considered a kisser button instead of a peep.

...got rid of mine years ago.. put on a "no peep"... it is sort of a form checker. no low light problems any longer. If I were target shooting, I'd have a peep, but in late/early hunting situations and night hunting for hogs, can't use the peep too well, eyes getting old...
