Your thoughts on KME knife sharpener

I think I really want a KME sharpener. I know a lot of people recommend the EP Apex but I dont like the suction cups on the base. I also like that the KME holds the blade for you. It seems very portable. I could sharpen while sitting by the fire in camp.

Does anybody have one that could share their experience? Thanks.

I have an EdgePro Apex and really like it but i wasn't a fan of the suction cups either... so, I took them off and screwed the base down to a 3/4" thick piece of plywood, and then clamp the plywood to my bench. works great! I've never used the other

I am a sharpening challenged individual, and the KME knife sharpener has changed all that. I have a KME and a Lansky and think the KME is the best by far!!!!

I have had one for 6 years. There great and the company has great customer service if a part were to break. Well worth the money.

Bladesmith, Did you make the knife in your avatar? I'm thinking with a name like Bladesmith, you know a good sharpener when you see one. I hear the Apex gets a mirror finish on an edge but I'm really not that concerned about that. I just want my knives sharp.

Txbowman. Yes that's one of my builds in my avatar. The KME system is rock solid. buy the extra stone set that has more stone grits. You can get a mirror edge with there very fine black stone, then use a leather stop and your good to go.
