Really popular recurve.

From what I remember it's more in reach for most people's budget. High quality for the money.

I'm sure others know a whole lot more as my traditional archery experience is very limited

You should be able to ge the date of mfg by sending Bear Archery the serial number via e-mail.
That was also the first full sized bow I hunted with back in the 1980s. But at #55lbs.

I bought one like it in 65# back in '74 for $43.
Good solid bows.
