    Moultrie A-5

I've had several different Moultrie cameras and they've all been good (enough) cameras and easy to use/set-up. Recently, I jumped on one of those 2'fer deals on the A-5's. I got the batteries in them, got them set up and in the woods.
After a couple weeks in the woods, I went back out to check them. One had almost 4,000 pictures and the other had around 2,800 pictures on it. Most of the picture were heat related pictures, and that's OK. I can always just delete them.
When I went to check them, I pulled the SD card, put it in my SD reader and moved the files to the SD card in my phone, put the card back in the camera, and locked it back up ready to take more pictures... So i thought.
I went out a couple weeks later and there wasn't one picture on either camera. My question is what caused this? Is the software in these cameras more sensitive than other Moultrie cameras to not save pictures if the phone adds a folder to the SD card in the A-5? This last time I checked them, they still had no more pictures on them, but i played with them to make sure they were working before I left this time.

Mods, if this needs to be moved to equipment and tuning, do it (and please accept my apologies for making your job more difficult ). I just thought I might get more answers here.

I have one A-5 and have had the same issues. It seems when you pull a card and replace it with another you have to go through the whole set up process each time. Last time I used it i pulled the card put in a new card and when I turned it in it made a buzzing sound. There was not any pictures on either card so I don't know. Be watching this thread to see if there is a solution.

My A-5 sucks. 10 million pics of nothing, no night pics. Guess it's headed back to academy.

Yep, mine suck too. Hate 'em and customer service says they can't handle a "faster" SD card and created a file with the wrong dates. They won't get anymore of my $.

Buy the Browning Strike Force HD. Nothing but great reviews for $129 Camera. Some places have run specials as low as $99, but I missed the last one at nativeoutdoors.com Academy carries them for $129 Very solid Day/Night pictures and battery life, plus it only requires 6 AA's

Thanks guys, but I'm not looking to buy another brand or send these back just yet. I already own these and they have the capability of taking good enough pictures as was evident from almost 7k pictures. I asked a pretty specific question that I (and it sound like others as well) would like to get an answer to. Thanks again!

Call Moultrie and tell them what's happening. They can tell you how to "reset" the camera. Worth a try to see if you can fix it.

I have 1 A-5 and it takes a pic once a minute during the day. On the right side, i dont miss any action in front the camera.

However, i found out the hard way that it wont work after replacing a new card in it.
I started to move in front until it takes a picture, then it works ok until i replace the card again and have to start over. If i let it sit idle then it shuts down and wont take any.

You ga e to reformat the sd card before you put it back in. That should do it.

When you put in a new card go thru the setup and delete the old pics on the card. That re formats on mine. I haven't had any problems, yet.

                        x2...

jlinville, I have a Moultrie D-444 that's on its 4th season this year. I'm not sure if it is certain SD cards or the camera itself, but I had the same issue last season a couple of times with my camera. Typically I delete all the pics on the card on my computer once I've transferred over the ones I want to save. Now though, I just go ahead and format or delete all on the card once I put it back in the camera and it seems to have solved my issue of this happening.

From the reader and my phone, I can't reformat that way. I just copy and delete or move. So, if I go through the set up on the camera and go to CLR, enter, yes, enter, that should do it? I'll have to give that a try this weekend and cross my fingers that works. I think it's something simple like that.

                          Thanks fellas!

I'm pretty sure that is the same way on my moultrie except when I cycle through it says "DELETE ALL". From there I hit enter, then yes, then enter like you say and it formats it (on mine at least).
