My Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows 7 quit working last night. It gets to the "Starting Windows" screen and stops. Is there something I can do to get past this? I've tried the system repair diagnostics. They say they cannot complete due to the antivirus software. How do I disable Norton 360 to get past this. Somehow these things never happen at a good time. 😳

Power on the laptop, press f8 repeatedly until you see the windows advanced option screen, from there you can use the up/down arrows to select safe mode.
You may be able to use your recover points to restore back a couple days to when it booted fine.
Thanks. Tried that. Still no joy. Took it to the computer DR. He said the HDD was showing all the signs it was about to fail. He is recovering the data from it. Shopping for a new laptop. Should have upgraded six months ago. May consider replacing the HDD with a SSD and leaving this laptop at the lease to look at the camera cards.Last edited by kmitchl; 08-10-2016, 03:39 PM.
