yessir.. 45 all the way, just check the traffic before coming past the belt. If it's trafficky, run around the belt, east.

45 all the way, although you're definitely still gonna hit snags. Taking the toll way is really expensive with all those axles and it takes longer than most people think to get all the way around that big *** city

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll attempt 45.

Be patient going into the trip knowing that you will hit and possible be stuck traffic. This is what I do and it usually takes me about ten minutes into Houston to start %&^%#^%.. Be safe!!

Cancel the reservations and head for Oklahoma

I have a work related trip to Galveston in Oct, dread the drive more than anything

Thanks for the advise. Took 45 down and got to Houston at 10:30ish and never slowed below 35-40 all the way through. Today on way home I got to Houston around 11 in the pouring rain... Still never below 35 and that was due to 50' visability. Can't believe no wreck!

Now Huntsville ... Wow I never stopped but saw 10-12 wrecks within the last 10 miles south. Saw a nice boat get the motor knocked off.
