Would it be OK to just drop the decimal?

As all the "How old is he?" threads are about to get going for this year, I have an idea. Can we just drop the decimal when talking about a deer's age? I mean, a deer is not X.5 years old all year long.

If the deer was born in May, then right now in August the deer is actually X.25 years old. Next month he'll be X.33. In November he'll be X.5. But he's still just X years old, right? If he was born in 2013, he's a 3 year old. If he was born in 2010, he's a 6 year old. It really doesn't matter what month he was born in does it? Besides, it's a lot easier to just type 4 insted of 4.5 or whatever.

Just a suggestion to make life simpler.

.5 makes it simpler too for the non OCD type..

It's just one of those little insignificant things that bugs you. You know it's silly and it shouldn't, but for some reason you just can't ignore it.

That convention came about because deer are x.5 years old in hunting season. Right now it would be incorrect to refer to a deer being x.5 years old because they aren't.

When people ask you how old you are, do you always add a .5 to the number, or do you just tell them how many birthdays you've had so far?

Should we drop the 1/8 when guessing score too?

Every Time ".5" gets typed into a TBH thread, a nickel gets donated to the Trump campaign

Technically a deer is only 4 or 4.5 one day a year........

Depends...my youngest daughter is 2.5 y/o while my oldest is 5 (5.5 technically). Kind of like a 14 m/o baby turning into a 2.5 y/o kid before just becoming a 6 y/o kid. I use to ask my wife, when can I just say how old they are in years only? I guess their are unwritten rule on that somewhere as well.

Just depends on how accurate you're trying to guess. What if you think the buck scores *** and 4/8? Would it be OK to type ***.5?

If that's true, he's gonna rake in a TON of money. I thought he was paying his own way though???
