You will get a lot of answers...
If I mostly did dove, then a gas operated like the beretta 390 / 391 - Rem 1100.
Mostly ducks, then inertia & the benelli M1 / M2
I'm one of those guys that think 3" shells are not 100% needed for your application

With the proper care it's hard to beat a Remington 1100. I change the gas piston and seal every couple of years and never have a hiccup. Still shoot my Grandfather and Dads 1100's from the late 60's at least one hunt per Dove season.

SBEII is what I bought when I went looking last.
Figured I shoot a shotgun more often than any other gun I own. Might as well spend the money and buy something real nice.

Browning, Benelli, Beretta, and I'm going to add Winchester as it uses Browning's technology.
Go to a gun shop and shoulder each one and see what fits you the best.

All around that does it all nothing compares to benelli. I used to shoot many thousands rounds per year!
