I like to look for people that need it and don't ask. Lady at the checkout counter with several kids....trying to add up stuff in the basket so she doesn't go over....stuff like that.

I was sitting in taco bell one day at lunch with 2 guys from work. A guy came in and sat next to us and hit us all up for some change after a few minutes and said he was hungry. I gave him my standard answer of "I don't have any cash on me". One of the guys I was with offered to buy him something. His exact words were "Man I don't eat this s--- I'm going over there to Mickey Ds". My buddy still gave him change.
Had another guy hit me up in the Home Depot parking lot. He said he had several kids and he was out of a job and they were all hungry and needed money for food. I told him I'd run across to Kroger and buy him whatever he needed if he'd just give me a list. He told me he was Muslim and he had to get his food from a certain store so it would be halal. I told him "Doesn't sound like you're hungry enough yet" and left.

Ditto. Had a guy, likely a disabled vet at a store yesterday. He was on crutches and could barely walk. Was very polite when I spoke to him, never asked for anything. Asked the clerk in the store about him. He said they see him from time to time but he never hangs out or asks anybody for money. Grabbed a big bottle of water and a sandwich and gave it to him. He thanked me and sat down to eat.
I don't give money.

I wont give any $ out. My wife will give out a bag of chips or bottle of water sometimes.
Recently my wife put a post up on a local group to pay $50 for someone to come load up all the drywall piled up outside of our house. Couple hours at the most. We had a ton of people comment, older women and men saying they would be much appreciative to do this for us. Its folks like that willing to do any hard work for a buck that touches the soft spot in my heart. It was really hard deciding on one person for it.

About ten or so years ago my mom, sister and I stopped at the Taco Bell in Spring by Gander Mountain to grad a bite to eat. After we sat down a homeless man came in and pulled some coins from his pocket and added it up and ordered an $0.89 burrito from the dollar menu. As he was handing the change to the cashier he dropped some of the change and it rolled under the counter. He then got down on his hands and knees trying to find the change that fell. He got it all together and got his food and sat down two tables from us, bowed his head and prayed. Before we left we gave him $20 and another table gave them all of the food they ordered. He said god bless you as he wiped tears from his face.
In these types of instances I feel inclined to help because he wasn't begging, he was just trying to eat.

Back during hurricane I lost count how many asked me for money at the gas pumps saying they needed gas money to back to New Orleans. I would ask them for there driver's license. Had one show me his with a Houston address. Never not a one could or would show me a La driver's license. Its like feeding strays. Don't get me wrong I don't mind helping someone out but not for their dope and alcohol problem.

I don't give any money but will offer a job. Not one has taken me up on it.
Several years ago I sat at an intersection and watched a guy panhandle. I figured if each car gave him 1 dollar he was making a couple hundred a day, a grand a week 4 grand a month.
At the time I made 2100 a month as a deputy.
