Fun things to do with kids around Austin

Taking the kids on a short hill country road trip next week. Any suggestions on places to go or things to do around Austin? Kids are 13, 12 and 9. Thanks in advance

You could rent a canoe on Town Lake.

The capital. They may not appreciate it now but as they learn Texas history knowing they've gotten to tour the place they'll have a sense of pride about it.

Austin has some rock climbing gyms that are a blast for everyone. All skill levels.

My kids prefer to just go the park. There are a some good ones scattered around town but I think they like Bull Creek where they can play in the water. They also like the Thinkery. If I take them to SoCo or the Lady Bird trails, they get hot and tired and make everyone miserable.

Will be in the area next weekend also. Not sure how good it is but we are going to go to natural bridge caverns and then watch the bats at bracken cave.

The bat bridge (Congress street?). Bats stay under during the day, and fly out. At dusk, it is pretty neat

                              Barton Springs, for sure

Pace Bend park at Lake used to have cliff jumping and rope swings out to the lake. Call to confirm they are open.

                              Hamilton Pool great swimming

Reimers Ranch - swimming, biking, climbing

Pick up a local paper and see what kind of music you can take in. There are some family friendly venues.
