I tried that on a spot last a couple of weeks after I out a feeder out and the bucks wouldn't come within 75 yards of me. They just stood there and looked and made a wide circle around me. And I had between two mesquites and brushed in what I thought was good.

Just a suggestion but whichever window you will be shooting out of, paint it black. That way when it comes to you getting there and hunting it, opening it up and having a big black hole won't be new to the deer and throw them off.

Or just leave the window open like I do. It's not like a closed window on a popup is going to stop anything from getting in anyway.

Same here, except I don't brush it in. I want the deer to see it. Be surprised how many deer come into range to check it out. One thing I have noticed, bucks rarely pay attention to it, where as the does will do the neck stretch and head bob thang for a little bit!!
All I do is back it up to some thick stuff.

End of August. It takes a few weeks for the white tailed deer to acclimate to something new in their living room. I have also used the tactic of setting up a ground blind in order to get them to walk over closer to my tripod. That works, too.

In Kansas, anywhere from the day of the hunt to a few weeks before. No significant difference in hunting success with either. The preference is to have them up for a little while before hunting.

Even though we tie them down very well, on more than one occasion we have had them blow away. 30-60 MPH wind that is common makes a great kite out of a ground blind.

I like to get mine out early and brush it in also. I've set up on the fly in a different spot and still seen deer the same day but they seem a little weary coming in.
