what to do and where to stay in NOLA this weekend

Wife and I are thinking of going to New Orleans and spending the weekend this coming up weekend for our aniversary (13 years yesterday). driving up friday evening and coming back sunday evening. Looking for things to do and a good place to stay. we normally stay at IHG brand hotels, but are open to B&B's, etc. We arent big partiers and dont care for the club scene at all, but plan on hitting burbon street and the french quarter saturday evening just to hang out and listen to music. we'd like to find a place within walking distance (or other forms of transportation for obvious reasons).

Jimmy J's to eat. Cochon Butcher is good too. Bunch of stuff to walk to. If you desire, the WW2 museum is awesome. I would try to be there all day. We didn't finish in one day but spent half the time chasing my daughter. Deanies seafood was good. Just was there last week.

I'll be there at the Guns N Roses concert. We're staying with a friend who has an itinerary put together. Not sure what he has planned, but I'm sure there's plenty to do there.

Use the search function as there is a NO thread every month or so. They all contain great recommendations. I would suggest staying at any of the big name hotels down in the French Quarter. You can walk anywhere you wanna go or catch a trolley right there in canal st. Resteraunts are everywhere and you can't go wrong. Our favorites so far are Brennan's on canal, commanders palace, and Stanley's on Jackson square for breakfast. Mix in some Cafe du Monde as well.

I go to NO all the time for work and have tried multiple restaurants. I also prefer IHG hotels but I stay by the airport. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn NO Downtown, and Express Downtown and Intercontinental on St. Charles, Crowne Plaza French Quarter and Staybridge French Quarter and they are all nice and within walking distance to everything. For food, I recommend: In the Quarter or near, Felix's Oyster Bar, Drago's, Meaxbar, Borgne. Outside the Quarter, Le Crepe Nanou, Dante's Kitchen, Boucherie, Cafe Degas, Toups Meatery, Chateau du Lac, Cafe B, Andrea's Restaurant Fuji Sushi Bar and Izakaya Little Tokyo.

Place De Armes is a great hotel right in the middle of the French Quarter, right on Jackson square. Its a nice hotel with reasonable rates, about $130 a night. Went fishing in Venice 2 weeks ago and stayed there Sat night.

I checked their prices and they are $40 more per night for this weekend. looks like a really nice place though. For $169 a night plus $35 a night parking, id go with a nice b&b over a hotel any day. I just need to find one in the area we want to visit that has free parking. how are the trolleys? If they are usable, I may look into something closer to the garden district and just ride back and forth. a 3 day pass is only $9

well, B&B booked in the east side of the garden district. street car stop is right outside their gate and parking is free. they said 7 mins to ride to burbon street.

anyone done the haunted pub crawl with "ghost city tours"? Thought it might be an interesting way to visit some of the out of the way bars.
