I have taken 2 different SKB double bow cases on multiple plane trips, and they have never charged me for oversized bags. Also, you m9ight want to check the weight again. I know when I went, the checked bags were limited to 50#.

        Good luck!

3 of us are going! It's the size of the case that's the issue. Ain't a bow case out there that's within deltas new regs.

It is a racket once you get to SA if you are taking a small (non-delta) plane to a final destination. We had to grease palms once we got to Joberg moving our luggage to our second flight. SA Air wasn't bad but the other one that some of our group took was terrible.

Should be no issue at all on the bow case. When we went the last week of May (2 months ago), my wife's uncle and grandpa both had SKB bow cases with all their clothes and gear and no one batted an eye whenever we checked in both going to SA and coming from there. Only thing they checked was the weight. We flew delta the whole way.

Made it thru the ticket line without any extra fees! The SCI blue bag was 50# on the dot! No issues with the bow cases. They were under weight. So I guess size doesn't matter!
