We're going on a family vacation and will be in Anchorage a day early waiting on the rest of the crew to show up this Saturday. Is there anything that we might like to see or do while we are waiting?

Get a rental car and drive down the Seward highway and stop in Portage along the way to the Wildlife Conservation center and the Portage Glacier Road and take boat tour of Glacier OR skip the Glacier and then continue to Seward and have lunch at one of the restaurants in the harbor. You can also go to the Alaska Sealife Center/Museum in Seward.

Or Go north to Denali...and stop in Talkeetna...at the Denali Brew Pub for lunch and visit local stores..great little town.

I would also recommend a day trip down to Seward. You can drive or take the train. Visit Exit Glacier and the marine center, have dinner at the harbor and watch the boats come in with their daily catch.

By the way, Moose's Tooth brews their own Root beer, just like their regular beer.
It is very dark colored and really good.

We are going to Denali, Fairbanks, Dawson City, Whitehorse, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Ketchikan and end in Vancouver. It's a family trip with all women except me and my brother. My wife and I have some excursions booked, some river rafting trips and a snorkel trip and me and my brother will most likely do some fishing. This is a trip my folks were going on a few years back but my dad passed so now we are taking my mother, along with other family members.

Book a stream fishing trip when you are in Alaska .. Salmon run is in full force right now. I did one in Juneau and one in Hoonah couple weeks ago. Still have the local guide contacts if you need them.
