A real hunting discussion, on my TBH?

    Whodathunkit.

But, as a matter or perspective, my preferred grouping at 60 yards.
(Although, I think in Europe they use meters, but whatever)

12"Hx 16"L will get you where you want to be on a quartering away elk..

Anything over 40 and a .010 will dramatically help.
        I'm 46. . . . ..

the plate is the smallest object i can see

Good luck with the training, Sean. Seems you're on the right track. In for the live hunt and LDP's!

Sean, you may already have this, but Gold that used to hunt with TD and I out SW of Dallas had a peep sight with a magnification in it. It was like a 2x or 3x magnification, and she said it really helped her when shoot because it made everything sharper.

            Could be worth looking into...

You are going to be just fine buddy, you'll probably do all this practicing for a 60 yard shot and you will end up "double-lunging" one at 20!!!

It's Crackerized, I'll bet you aren't going to have any problems shooting fieldpoints with broadheads when it comes time.

Except for the stabilizer suggestion, which is a good one BTW, it sounds like you are already doing everything everyone has suggested.

So my advice, just keep on keepin' on!

im pretty convinced i'm going to be able to run a half marathon and end up shooting the dang elk at 13 yards at a water hole.

                  There is one more thing...

You mentioned cross eye dominance, I have battled this my whole life as well. What has worked best for me is a blinder for my left eye. I take a piece of thin black plastic or heavy paper (like a binder cover) and use a small binder clip to clip it to the brim of my ball cap. I orient it so that when I am looking straight it is out of the way bet when I turn my head to shoot it covers the left eye.

This allows me to shoot without squinting or closing my left eye and is a much more relaxed, especially at distance.

Rifles and compound with a peep and sight and now a recurve are easy for me, I close my left eye.

With a shotgun and wearing yellow or sun glasses, I found only a small spot the size of a dime needs to be blocked where I see the front bead sight. A small piece of electrical tape works well, it's easier to remove than a smear of chap stick or pond mud which also work.

15 years ago i spent 80% of my hunting time in a duck blind. One day I went to a skeet/trap range after some particularly bad shooting to try and tune myself up. I was less then 50% and I liked shooting hevi shot (if you know what hevi shot is you know the pain to my pocket book).

For chits and giggles i saw an instructor and asked if he could instruct me last minute. My first round was less then 50% so he gave me this bevy of tips and the next round was around 50%. He check my eye dominance and gave me some new tips and next round was around 50%. We taped, covered, look at this edge for this direction look at that edge for that direction and i stuck around 50%

about 45 minutes into the session he took my shotgun said i'm going to try something but you have to open for change. i said sure and he stuck the gun on the left. he said do everything we just talked about and try and forget it's on the left. next two round i want 24-25/25.

he said thanks that'll be $100 bucks. i said what do I do he said shoot on the left. I've shot on the left since.

what i really need to do in the offseason is buy a left hand bow and switch

I used to shoot at a tennis ball at 60 yards. When I could get 3 arrows stuck in it, I was ready for heart shots at long distances.

Of course I was 32 with great eyesight at that time. Now I don't like to walk 60 yards to retrieve my arrows...

Trots off about 35yds, then wobbles for 15yds before falling over sticking out of an Elk.........
