Since starting my own business 5 months ago I haven't been doing much guiding but today things lined up and I was able to get a few of my customers out on the water.
We hit the bay at 6:30am with live croaking lures for bait. [emoji6] Winds were predicted to stay calm most of the day and the bay was a nice green color which normally that would be perfect conditions. Problem is when I left the house at 4:30am I didn't need headlights it was so bright with the full moon. Another problem was we were gonna have a slack tide most of the morning. Not good but we were gonna give it hell anyways.
To keep things short the conditions given to us worked out in our favor. We hit 5 of my best spots that gave up our limit of 25 trout by 10am. They were being very aggressive. Thank god for that cause my customers were having a hard time get the hook set on them. We culled out 5 smaller 16" trout from the live well and released another 8-10 that were lower slot keepers but didn't bother with them. They also missed a bunch of fish but that kept things interesting and exciting for sure.
At the end I had all the fish cleaned and the customers on there way by 11am.
This is the hottest time of the year but its also the hottest bite for the bays I fish. I plan on hitting the water more from now on.
