Tracking Dog

Do any of you guys use a lighted collar of any type that is visible from 100' yards or more? I need a recommendation so I don't waist money on something that looks good in a picture and is useless in the field. Willing to spend some money for quality. My Blue Lacy can completely disappear when she is 10' from me in the dark and I would feel more comfortable on the ranch being able to see her from far away.

I purchased 7 led collars off ebay for about $3.00 each. They are bright and makes it easy to keep up with my "Gang of Idiots". Some can be set to blink. Easy to see at 100 yds. Take your pick.

A tracking collar will give you peace of mind. I never turn my hounds out without one on.

I have thought about buying one but at the same time I just want to be able to see her while driving on the ranch at night or while walking around hunting pigs in the dark.

I bought one for around $10 once and it wasn't near as bright as I was hoping. How far would away can you see their collars?

See my edit in post #3. A tracking collar will give you peace of mind. If it's in your budget I would highly recommend investing in one.

It depends on the terrain but I have no problem seeing my hounds at 100 yds. in open grasslands.

I just have a couple leds I put on my dogs collar when tracking. They're pretty visible. But I try not to let her get out of sight anyways, and if she does get a bit to far out I'll have her sit and wait on me

Froggy, your "Gang of Idiots" cracks me up.

To the point of the post, I have never used a lighted collar. My "Idiot" is actually fairly disciplined and will respond when I call him. He is mostly white which makes him easier to see in the dark.

GPS collar - find them on most bird dog stores online.

look up Sportdog and I think the collar is called TEK. I could find my dog 2 miles away in whatever topo
