Personally I like fiberglass ladders myself and recommend to others. Yes, fiberglass is heavier than aluminum but the weight gives them strength and sturdiness. I have both Werner and Louisville Ladder brand, they have been good to me. Those same brands are used at my work also.
Here are my 6,8 and 10ft at work on my barndo build.

Cosco extend/flip/ whatever ....$159 delivered from Amazon in the 17' model
Or little giant.
Either are much more versatile than an A frame.
Lucky me...I climb a ladder six or eight times a day --- and I carry a 28' aluminum heavy duty, a 17' cosco, and a 13' Werner as well as a collapsible 12' on my truck. Not a fan of fiberglass extension ladders because eventually they wear in the sun and you will get splinters in your hands.
I have approximately 2 dozen ladders, so this isn't my first go-roundLast edited by Atfulldraw; 07-18-2016, 01:12 AM.

Those little giants are nice ladders. I don't have one, but I'm thinking about it for versatility. I have 2 small aluminum a and a 6' fiberglass at the house right now. I borrow a few different ladders from my dad depending on need. He has the 8, 10' and extension ladders I borrow. All fiberglass.
They're heavier, but feel sturdier than aluminum

We use fiberglass at work, Semi Trailer repair.
Depending on what I'm doing there's two features I like.
1) Paint Tray, place to put your tools.
2) Dual step, when working inside the trailer on a panel, you don't need to move the ladder every time. Just climb down one side and back up the other
