Need to drill hole in rock siding

I need to drill a 1-1/2" hole in the side of my well house. This is a one time drill so no need for a high dollar drill. Can anyone recommend what drill bit I need? I would prefer to order off amazon. I believe the stone to be around a couple inches thick.

    Thanks for the help,

I'm not aware of a stone/masonry bit that large you can put in a regular drill. Probably gonna have to find s hammer drill. Will make quick work of it

Does th ehole have to be in the rock? You mounting something heavy? Or is it for utilities?

I drilled about a 1" hole through a concrete wall in my boathouse bulkhead. Rented a hammer drill with a water cooled diamond bit hole saw. Cost about $50 to rent.

I had to drill thru 4" of limestone the other day with a 1-1/8" bit. It was very easy and all I used was a 1/2" regular drill. The bit was the biggest I could find and cost $65.

Get a small bit and drill several holes knock it out and grout a stub pipe back in just incase you ever have to replace the pipe again.

Could you just tee into the line under ground? Less chance of a problem with freezing temps later.

Get a carbide hole saw like they use on granite.

This, except it is diamond tip

Fits on the end of a grinder, use a vacuum for dust.

Don't try to cut all the way through at once.

                    Does 1 3/8" work?

I've drilled a lot of these working in construction. Personally I always preferred just drilling a ring of holes with a much smaller bit (around 1/4- 3/8") using a decent hammer drill. After that just pop out the middle.

What part of Comal county you in? I have a 1/2" hammer drill I can bring by one evening this week that should make quick work of that hole. You will need to get a bit the size you need though.

Go to a local rental store and rent a hammer drill. the rental store should have drill bits but you will need to buy the one you need....
