    Hydro mulch / Sprayed Grass

Is it worth it to get grass sprayed if you already have access to tractor tiller and seed spreader?

Anyone seen any pricing lately for spraying grass seed?

I don't have an answer to your question but be sure you know what you are getting in to with hydro mulching. I had it done to two homes of mine and was not satisfied either time. If you just want some grass it is OK but if you are looking for a nice lawn it does not do the job in my opinion. If you like a lush lawn, sod it. I have fertilized, over seeded and watered the heck out of hydro mulched lawns and never been happy with the outcome.

It all depends on the type of grass seed that is used. Also that is what can change the price. Yes it's mainly used for easements and roadsides for erosion control in those areas and the grass seed is a mixture. You can have a nice yard if done correct. Call around and talk to some guys and explain what you want. I did some areas in Dallas in buffalo seed that came out real good but that is not a type of grass I would want in my yard. But it was a low maintenance post office with no sprinkler system. I have also done some ball fields in some different mixtures of Bermuda that also turned out great.

Agreed. Better off going with sod if you are doing this for your lawn.

I don't have any personal experience with HM, but I know that it doesn't provide a "lush" lawn coverage, as mentioned earlier. If you're using it for aesthetic purposes, i.e. covering bare spots or "fill" for yard expansion, it can be serviceable.

I was recently given ~ 25 lbs. of Bermuda seed, which I've used in a few problem areas and to establish a mowable lawn around my barn, with very good results. Prep is key when sowing seed. If you have the time and equipment, it's a viable alternative.

I also have recently plantes bermuda. Had St.Augustine from when I built the house and layed the sod. Added a bunch of dirt and it didnt make it through. Used a disc on our tractor to prepare the ground, threw the seed out by hand, and drug it lightly afterward. This was almost 1/4 acre and it looks great
