Update on my Little Track Star!

I posted last month about my baby girl who runs the 12U 80M hurdles. As an old college track guy and someone who loves the sport, it's just been such a blessing and fun time to get to experience it.

Two weeks ago she won the AAU regional championship (25 regions nationally) and qualified for Junior Olympics which is in Humble, TX the first week of August. She's seeded 12 nationally but we're pretty confident she can make it to the finals since she's really not had much competition all season.

Yesterday, she won the TAAF region 3 championship and qualified for the state meet. We will know seeding next week but she should be in the top 2 and will compete for a state championship which was her goal at the start of the season.

I'm super proud to say the least and thanks for letting me share...

I guess the most important thing is that she's a great kid with a warm heart and she's not afraid to work hard!

That is awesome. She must be very disciplined. She has great form for a 12yo. I ran the lows and highs in HS.

I envy you. My son's track career just recently ended in college (injuries). I had a blast watching him compete for the last 6 years.
His junior year he was part of a relay team that made it to the JO. We had a great time watching him compete in the event along with all of the other talent. He treasures the memory of that event over pretty much any of his other track events even though they took fifth.

Awesome. Wishing her the best. A little warm out there running at this time.

I know your feeling of pride in her. I feel the same when I watch my Woodlands High Cross Country runner.

        Again, good luck!

I hear you and know where you are coming from...

Yes sir - she qualified her first year to state in the LJ and was lead leg on the 4x100. Last year I said "let's go do some hurdles." And she was a natural (you should have seen my face the first time - Lol). I've started talking to her about the experience and really treasuring the opportunity. What's really cool and I think what makes her special is that she doesn't stress or worry one bit - it's all just fun and a social thing.

              I'd say so! 12yrs running highs...in July...in Texas...and winning?!

              Lord that brings back nightmares.

              Congrats to the young lady!

Very awesome! That is some talent right there.
Any idea what makes her so good? Height, speed or just flat out athletic? Just curious as I've never understood what makes a good hurdler.

Easttxbowman- I will say she has always been athletic and fast (she gets that from me ). The other two things are flexibility and not a lot of fear to do anything. She doesn't scare easily (gets that from her momma! Lol)...

There is nothing like watching your kid put in the work and then be rewarded with success! Congrats and good luck to you guys from here on out!
