    Getting cell phone bill lowered?

Anyone here fight Verizon, Sprint, or any carrier into a lower monthly phone bill?

We use Sprint and got a really good deal 2 years ago. Added two lines to make 4 total and they gave us two new Iphones (one version old at the time, not the newest) and waived monthly access fees. 12gig plan.. It was $133/mon after taxes and all.

Now the new plan options suck and when we call it goes to a call center in India. First went to the Sprint store but he could only offer the current plans. No new phone deals or anything good.

I would think they wouldn't mind us extending our plan as is but without upgrading or getting us new phones. But they claim they can't extend. Our plan would stay the same (they say) until I ask and then it's oh..it stays the same except the waived access fees. So it doesn't stay the same LOL..

Who fights this stuff? And what's the best way to find out who to talk to?

Call to cancel your service, and ask how much it's going to cost to terminate. Then they will transfer you to the retention team/department. They have all the power to make the best offers to retain you as a customer.

The retention teams will just about do anything to keep your business. This goes not just for phones but electric providers and credit card companies as well. I recently got tired of paying TXU bills which were higher that the competition. When we called to cancel the service, their price magically lowered to that of the competition. I am not a believer in credit cards but in past times I called and complained the interest was too high and the rate was lowered.

I just switched to cricket wireless. I got an old iPhone 5 and turned it on. 45$ a month total including taxes. I brought my number over and got a 50$ bill credit.

Verizon prepaid brings all the geeks to the plan.

You can try the retention department. With that said, in the past I didn't have all that bad of luck with Verizon just by going to a location and having an associate pull up my current plan and look at how to reorganize it. But I would say, good luck with this if your contract period hasn't lapsed or isn't somewhat close to it. They are much more inclined to work with you if you are like 2/3 or so through your contract, most of which are 2 years.

                There are still contracts?

Haven't been in one in years.

We switched to Consumer Cellular . No contracts , same service as AT&T , no problems of anykind . New sim card mailed to you and installed by you with simple instructions . Now our bill is half each month . Very satisfied.

Boom! Sprint called us back after two long phone calls yesterday and one email. Almost had the deal of the century at $90/mon but they caught on LOL.

Still got all 4 of our phones (family plan) with 10 gig for $130/mon after all taxes etc.
