85 to 293 off of I-10 shouldn't be too bad.

We were there a few weeks ago. The drive over from Houston was terrible but we had a great time when we got there. Drive home was not near as bad.

98 backs up for 15 miles either direction on the NW side of Mobile.

When we went a few weeks ago we took 49 south out of Hattiesburg to 67 to I-10 and then went across. 10 has waaaaay more traffic than 20 but it still wasn't terrible until we got to the tunnel. Just be aware that 67 from Saucier, MS to I-10 is crawling with cops. Overall this is a much better way to go than taking 98.

Also, if staying in Hattiesburg you better book a hotel before you get there. We didn't, and our options were extremely limited. We actually got double-booked and walked into someone else's room. lol that poor lady....
