    A little help needed!!

Ok guys and gals I am at a dilemma, so I have a ford f150 supercrew with the 4.6. Has the full tow package so on and so forth, well I hooked it up to my dads camper today because we are leaving for yogi bear park Wednesday morning. here is the kicker the truck pulls the I wanna say 38 ft dream house quite well as far as power I was a little surprised but it sure puts a lot of weight on the rear of my truck which as we all know takes the front up. Is it really worth it to put helper bags on? I am gonna try to adjust the sway bars in the morning and see if that helps any.... Anybody have then on half tons??

You have a 38' bumper pull on a half ton truck w/ a 4.6L V8? What's the tounge weight of the trailer? Do you have a weight distribution hitch on it? I had a 29' trailer that was waaaay too much for the half ton truck I had at the time....even with the 1,000 lbs weight distribution hitch. It wasn't only a matter of tounge weight either. The suspension would also be swaying alot. I had to keep it really slow. Like 50 mph on the highway....that didn't last long. I went back to a 3/4 ton diesel.

Ford builds good trucks but you have to know the limitations for the model you own. I don't have the specs in front of me but if memory serves me correctly, 6500 pounds towing weight is the max for an F150. I sold my 150 because it was a little too limp wristed to do what I need a truck to do. I didn't even like the way that it towed a 3000 lb. boat. The suspension was too squishy. You could probably do some weight distribution and get your front end down but you still might burn up the transmission. I suggest that you do some research, call a dealership, google information, whatever it takes to see if you own enough horse to pull that wagon. Get facts and not opinions then you will know for sure.

        This
That sure seems like way to much trailer for a 1/2 ton truck

I sure hope you have good brakes

Getting that beast stopped might be interesting

I would say 38' is way too much trailer for 1/2ton V6 but maybe these new trucks are different

It has electric breaks! I looked online and the specs said 8000 lbs tongue wait is 3500 and I do have a 1000lb weight distribution hitch! The trailer is supposedly rated for half ton towing.. i think I will probably just use a work truck and not risk it

I put 5k lb airbags on my older ford and they helped tremendously when towing some very heavy loads.

That seems like a lot for a half ton. I've got a 28 ft camper that I tow with a 2015 F150 with the 5.0. It's a handful but handles it well. Dry it weighs 6800 and I think the max capacity for my pickup is 9000.
