    Javelina in Harwood

Has anyone seen javelina as far east as Harwood before? This was on my game camera recently.

I hunt over in Harwood and they use to be pretty thick over there, but the past few years they are pretty scarce.

I see. My In-Laws have a place there and I've been around for 30 years and this is the 1st one I've seen. We also just started getting feral hogs on their place this past year. Neither that I am excited about.

My brother killed a couple in Gonzales about 10 years ago. We haven't seen any since.

What is the farthest east of San Antonio have javelina been spotted. Harwood is right at about 70 miles.

That's a lot farther east than I ever thought.

Yep. He had just shot a doe and was walkin up to her when he saw one biting in her leg. Drew back back and smoked him too.

No one will believe me, but my dad and I saw one about 10 years ago dead on the bank of the Navidad not a half mile up river from the Navidad boat ramp off of 59 by Lake Texana. We pulled right up to it and it dang sure was a Javelina.

My guess was that it escaped from somewhere/got washed down, but I don't think the Navidad passes through any area with Javelinas? Plus it was intact, dry and looked like it had recently died.

We had them in Bastrop County for a long time. I was told that A&M and TPWD released a few in Gonzales, Caldwell, Bastrop counties 50 plus years ago and there were populations in spots in these counties. I have not seen or heard of one north of the Colorado. Uncle killed one in the 70's right outside of Cistern and we still saw them at times around there. Must have been released in that area. Not very common anymore. Saw 1 about 10 yrs ago in eastern Bastrop county.

3 years ago I saw one just outside of Hallettsville. Took me a second to figure out what it was, because we were not suppose to have them. In 5 years of hunting that place, that was the only one we saw. And we had cameras all over the place
