Black Eagle Arrows- Spine Recommendation

I have a 29.5" draw length and need to select an arrow that will run out of both setups.

Current set up: New Breed Eclipse (335 IBO)
BEA Deep Impact .300 w/ 125 gr exodus. total arrow weight 517 gr. This works perfectly... except for the archer sometimes


Potential next setup: Obsession Defcon 6 (360 IBO)
BEA X-Impact .250 w/ 125 gr exodus. total arrow weight 473 gr.

Can I shoot my deep impacts .300 with the 360 IBO bow or will I need to get the .250 spine X-impacts?

Im hoping MuddyFuzzy chimes in here... he is our Black Eagle expert. Thanks yall!

I got .250 carnivores and added 50 grain brass inserts with 100 grain thunderheads. They fly awesome and at 500 grain total my arrows blow through anything. I believe you can never go too stiff

Edit: I shoot them out of a Hoyt Carbon Element and a Mathews Creed 70# @ 28.5

I would think you'd be okay with the .300 spine but obsessions do tend to like a stiffer spined shaft. I'm running .250 Spine BEA Carnivores with 125gr points out of an Obsession Knightmare at 70/30 and haven't had any issues. I ran .300s prior to that as well, which were a little underspined but I was able to make it work.

2015 Nitrum Turbo, 72# @ 29"

31" BEA Carnivore 250 arrow, with 125gr broadheads, weighing in at around 465gr I believe. CRAZY KE and penetration and amazing arrow flight.

Thanks fellas! Yeah limb bolts locked down, ~72# draw weight and 29" arrows. I'll go with the .250.

I have to be frank here, I shot the X-Impact as a hunting arrow two seasons ago and ended up going back to the Deep Impact. The X's are nano diameter shafts, the reduced diameter takes away from the outsert bonding service and overall stability. I love the arrow for a 3D application but believe for a pure hunting shaft the nod goes to the Deep Impact. The Deep Impact also has a greater cross-sectional area again, making it more robust. Don't get me wrong, you can totally hunt with a X-Impact but I think there are better options out there. The low GPI of the X-Impact gives huge potential in building EFOC but comes at a cost of a very thin walled shaft, just a few things to think about.

A 300 will work for you cut down and a 250 will as well cut to the longer side of AMO length. Unfortunately, the Deeps are not offered in the 250 spine so the 300's are your only option. If you prefer a smaller diameter shaft you may look into the Spartan which is only .040" larger in diameter than the Deep Impact. The 250's @ 10 GPI and are a great platform to build a lot of FOC on a 500ish grain set-up.

Muddy, did you have a carbon wall failure with the X impacts while hunting? One of the things I like about the outsert and deep impacts is the ability to retain their structural integrity on shoulder or heavy bone hits.

Black Eagle Arrows- Spine Recommendation

I bent a few outserts and broke a few shafts over about 7k arrows on a dozen shafts a couple of years back. Still remarkably high success and never had a failure on an animal but did break a few on target pass throughs. I agree on the additional support, you are basically footing the shaft.

Slow set 2-part epoxy is a must with the outsert system.
