Splitting fence cost with neighbor

He needs the fence for insurance and that's all. My other neighbor put a pool in and didn't have a fence for a good 6+ months. I offered to split the cost and he flat out said he couldn't afford it at the time. We called everyone and because where we live none of the codes applied. Funny how they found the money after I got whiskey bent one night and went skinny dipping in their pool. They heard my splash, came outside, and I said jump in the water is good. They built the fence within a week and never asked me for 1/2. I had to go ask him how much I owed and wrote the check. They have avoided me since then.

You neighbor is just a Richard. How much money are we talking ?

Ha I have built ALOT of fence at our farm. Neighbors aren't interested in building or paying. One even asked if I was going to take up his old fence! Needless to say his "cow trap" of a fence is still on his side and my 6 strand is on my side. Good fences make good neighbors I guess.

No he wouldn't tie into my fence. No I wouldn't want him to pay half. I had a similar issue. I paid for it all. Set it 6" or so inside the property line and forgot my neighbor existed. He moved away and now a nice young couple lives there.
