duck hunting in corpus , who has been

want to go on some duck hunts this year, close to san antonio, i figured corpus area would be best, who has been and who did you use as a guide, will be the first year for my lab, what was the cost and what equipment would you recommend, hotel not an issue because i stay at the navy base.

Haven't hunted Corpus , but hunted with a guy between aransas pass and port aransas. He drops you off in a blind. We have had alot of good hunts with him. If birds are in the area, you will get chances. His website is texasgulfduckhunting.com

Holler at me closer to teal season and I'll try to take you along. Will require 300-400 yards of walking thru marsh mud. As mentioned, if you have deks and can call, there are good airboat guides that can drop you off at blinds for a lot cheaper. After the split is always better. As far as guided hunts, IDK, but there are a lot of them. I think 80% of the fishing guides turn into hunting guides.

A good friend and I will be taking trips this fall. As mentioned above, second split is typically better unless we get some good fronts early. Honestly, guides aren't a must buy it helps to have some local knowledge of the water and where the birds have been traveling, staging, feeding. Going rates are anywhere from $100-$150 per person. You may have more fun out of a cast n blast trip for just a few hundred dollars more. Choke canyon will probably give you more variety of birds to shoot.

Lots of birds after the split. Mostly red heads, blue bills and pintails.

Like stated above. I have shot better mixed bags in Nueces Bay. Consisting of teal, widgeon, mottled, whistling ducks and pintails.

But if your hunting a dog I would stick to the laguna. There are a ton of reefs in Nueces, unless your hunting the marsh wich can get pretty mucky but lots of teal in there in early duck season.

You can drive here. Sit in the dry vegetation and have shallow water. The Laguna Madre always holds a lot of ducks but there are channels traversing all over so you need a boat of some kind as it can not be waded.

Thousands and thousands of ducks. Crazy. I've never seen anything like it. I went for 3 days last year. Too poor to hire a guide. I did exactly what everybody else did that I talked to did; killed 2 redheads, then watched redheads come and go for the rest of the hunt. I saw one group of pintails, a few ringnecks, and 2 mergansers. The rest were redheads. I think you need to get up into the more brackish water to find the puddle ducks, but I'm no expert. It was a good enough time I'll be back this year

I wouldn't mind an extra hunter when the season starts. Shoot me a message if your interested. I usually hunt alone but my schedule is crazy sometimes

In for info on this one. Didn't get to go last year so my decoys are begging to get set this year lol. No boat, but do have a kayak to get places.

This is accurate for Nueces bay. It's easy for dogs to cut their pads on shell. There are also muddy areas which are difficult to wade in. Can be good hunting though.

Jeff Austin 361 510 8708 hes been guiding in that area for years and has some top notch blinds. Most of em no need to wear waders just bring your gun and shells. Tons of birds around there mostly divers but we do get some puddle ducks every now and then.

Went to school with Jeff. I Also grew up in the salt marsh. Nothing like it use to be. Best location in the world to get you a redhead to mount.

If you need another recommendation try South Bay Hunting Club. Gordon Spears runs a good outfit.
