I had one of these moments Saturday, and thought about this thread after it happened.
The drain stop in our kids' bathtub failed a while back rendering the tub useless because it won't drain. This weekend I finally decided I was going to tackle this task. It involved cutting a hole in the wall in my son's room, which I wasn't really concerned about. I thought any plumbing would be higher in the wall, more along the level of the faucets. First couple of cuts with the trusty sawzall go fine and then gush, water starts gushing out of the gap in the drywall. The colorful language starts flying as I hop up and run outside to shut the water off. I currently have it patched with heater hose from the auto parts store, a couple hose clamps and zip ties.
We're getting a professional to fix the original problem and the one I made.
